She was a perfect casting match.

Every time the show loses a key member of the team, fans wonder if the dynamic of the cast can survive the exit. Fortunately for NCIS, the writers have made sure to fill the void left by each departing character. And yet, some of them were so dear to viewers that they still want to see them back.

Even though it's been years since NCIS' Pauley Perrette left the show, fans still remember their favorite chief forensic scientist Abby Sciuto. To this day, no other character on the show has been able to match her quirky personality and undeniable skills. And there is a good reason why the actress is a perfect fit for the role.

Pauley Perrette Biography

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Perrette has seen many states throughout her childhood. The actress has lived in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, New Jersey and California, but only one of these states was a game changer for her career pursuits.

It was in New York, where the actress was attending college, that she was introduced to the casting director and started getting some commercial roles. NCIS came her way years after she started booking some small TV roles, but she was ready to step into the role of Abby Sciuto. And it's safe to say she had years of training behind her.

Back in Georgia, Pauley attended Valdosta State University and majored in criminal justice. She traveled to New York to continue her studies in the same field at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. In an interview with The San Diego Union-Tribune, the actress admitted that she wanted to be an FBI agent from an early age.

While Abby Sciuto isn't exactly a special agent, her work has had a direct impact on the success of the NCIS team, so the actress has seen her childhood dream come true in the most unexpected way. To honor the inspiration her character has been to many viewers, the actress established the Pauley Perrette Forensic Science Scholarship at her alma mater.

Though the actress' abrupt ending still devastates many fans, NCIS, along with many of its spin-offs, continues to move forward. If you are interested in catching up on the show or re-watching your favorite episodes, you can stream NCIS on Paramount Plus.
