Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, and other stars shared their impressions of the prequel to the popular fantasy action series.

House of the Dragon 's debut season gathered rave reviews from both critics and viewers. Many thought it would be just a Game of Thrones spin-off, but the new series exceeded all expectations.

The stars of the first adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin talked about what they thought of the prequel.

Kit Harington

In Game of Thrones, Kit Harington played Jon Snow, who turned out to be a Targaryen. His impressions of House of the Dragon are strictly positive.

The actor points out that the authors did a great job in that they were able to make the project stand apart from Game of Thrones and have its own characteristic features and distinct audience.

He believes that the series' creators have done a fantastic job. It's been known that Harington doesn't plan to bid farewell to the Westeros universe as he is busy preparing for a spin-off about the Jon Snow character.

Maisie Williams

Maisie Williams was one of the main characters in Game of Thrones, the heiress of House Stark. The ancient bloodline was not part of the first season of House of the Dragon, but it's been reported that it will appear in the following seasons and twist the storyline. Williams was one of the first to say that she was going to watch the new series, in part to support her friend Olivia Cooke who played the older version of the Queen Alicent Hightower. She thinks the new series has every right to exist since it is an original production that's nothing like Game of Thrones.

"I'm really looking forward to it, actually. My friend Olivia [Cooke] is in it, and it's been really interesting just chatting to her about the experience ... I want to be as supportive as possible to her as an actress, but also, I'm just really curious. I'm kind of looking forward to ... experiencing it as a person that's not on it. 'Cause all I've done is meet people who have done just that, and I never really was able to relate to it." (via)

Furthermore, the actress doesn't rule out Arya Stark appearing in a Game of Thrones spin-off project along the lines of Kit Harington's new production.

Emilia Clarke

A representative of House Targaryen, actress Emilia Clarke reacted to the new series with her usual childlike enthusiasm. She thinks that the project is unique, and she's glad to see more of her white-haired relatives appear on the screen. Clark wishes luck to the stars of House of the Dragon and admits that it was weird to see the world of Game of Thrones come alive once again.

Clarke also commented on the suggestion that the cast dyes their hair platinum blonde — the color that the Targaryen bloodline is famous for. Her reaction was sharply negative: when filming Game of Thrones, her hair was ruined from bleaching.

Peter Dinklage

Peter Dinklage was worried that House of Dragon would become a soulless cash-grab and a simple spin-off to Game of Thrones. His fears were proved wrong as the series has become a full-fledged project in its own right, praised by the fans. Previously, Dinklage said that he would like to watch House of the Dragon, although his character from the original series almost never crossed paths with the Targaryens. Now, the actor says he's happy to watch House of the Dragon simply as a viewer, without knowing what happens next.

Dinklage did not share his impressions of the finale.
