Henry Cavill with elf ears, leading his army against the Dark Lord to save Middle-earth? Say less, we want that movie right now — and we already have the imagery for it.

Considering the sudden surge in new Tolkien adaptations recently, it’s surprising that no one’s tried to adapt The Silmarillion yet. Honestly, this question has been hanging ever since Peter Jackson finished his amazing Lord of the Rings trilogy — and it became even more apparent after the Hobbit trilogy was done a decade ago, too.

Seeing that The Silmarillion is Tolkien’s most complete and thought-through Middle-earth-based work apart from LotR and Hobbit, we can’t believe that no major studio has tried to tackle it yet: the money-making potential here is insane, and if executed correctly, the grateful fans will turn the adaptation into an instant classic.

Perhaps, directors are scared away by the sheer scale of The Silmarillion; perhaps, they are afraid that miscasting such a monumental adaptation would result in a huge backlash from Tolkien fans. If that’s the case, they’re very much correct — but for that, we have a tip. You can’t go wrong with casting Henry Cavill for a major fantasy role.

The Abandoned Films are enthusiasts that use the powers of AI and editing to give us a look at what the movies that were never made could’ve looked like — and for The Silmarillion, they cast Henry Cavill as Feanor, the fearless elven leader and the creator of the sacred elven jewels called the Silmarils.

Before you take a look at these images, we must warn you: Cavill looks absolutely stunning and fitting as Feanor and you risk obtaining a desperate burning desire to see him in this role — the fate shared by anyone who sees this fan cast.
