Hate it Or Not, Even Jenna Ortega Seems Tired of Viral Wednesday Dance
Many TikTok and Instagram users are already tired of seeing the viral challenge on their feeds, but the popularity of the Wednesday Dance isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
After weeks of the Wednesday Dance taking social media by storm, some fans believe that Jenna Ortega, who portrays the gothic lead character and choreographed the dance herself, is probably just as tired of it as many people who can't seem to do anything about the viral challenge popping up on their feeds.
"I'm not gonna lie. I think I'm just as tired of hearing or seeing Wednesdays dance as much as [Jenna Ortega] probably is," Twitter user nicoleta_dyer said.
To be fair, pretty much every interview with Ortega has a question or two about the dance. And since the actress can't really come up with anything new to say about it, many fans believe that she is already exhausted by the viral phenomenon. Still, with the show getting greenlit for season 2, Ortega's popularity is skyrocketing, and it doesn't look like she will be spared from the Wednesday dance questions any time soon.
In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight at the Golden Globes ceremony, Ortega admitted she believes TikTok "isn't a healthy place to be." However, she won't stop acknowledging the power of social media in making Wednesday popular, admitting the dance frenzy is "crazy."
The dance, originally performed to The Cramps - Goo Goo Muck, went viral shortly after the show premiered on Netflix in October. TikTok users made their own song choices, replacing Goo Goo Muck with Lady Gaga 's Bloody Mary, even though the song was never part of the show's soundtrack. But because the viral challenge was so massive, even Netflix nodded to the "new" soundtrack and used it to promote the upcoming second season of Wednesday.
