Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts premiered last year, but it wasn’t the first reunion since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hit theaters.

In fact, a mini-reunion took place way back in 2014, and we bet you never even heard about it! Don’t you worry, we’ve got you covered.

In 2014, Alec Hopkins released Andys, a short film that he directed and wrote the script for. The movie stars Eric Colvin, Glen Fox, and Benedict Clarke. What do these people have to do with Harry Potter, you might ask?

Well, it just so happens that both Alec Hopkins and Benedict Clarke played the role of young Severus Snape once upon a time! Hopkins portrayed the teenage Potions Master in the fifth movie, while Clarke appeared as a pre-Hogwarts Snape in the final film.

Both actors only had the chance to bring the character to the big screen in the flashback sequences, so their names may not ring any bells. Still, it’s kind of sweet to see them come together for a totally different project three years after the last installment of the Harry Potter saga came out.

Andys is a sci-fi short feature set in a dystopian London. Young Andrew (Benedict Clarke) stumbles upon a spider and decides to show it to Roy Johnson (Eric Colvin). Andrew and Roy are over the moon at the discovery, but Mr. James, who hunts criminals, suddenly arrives and dashes all their hopes.

The movie is loosely based on Philip. K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?.

Since working on Harry Potter, the two young men have stayed pretty busy. Alec Hopkins has become an editor, producer, and director. His most recent projects include 2019’s The Outing and 2020’s Best of Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball.

As for Benedict Clarke, he still acts, although mostly in short movies. He did appear in an episode of Murder in Provence last year. You could’ve also spotted him in 2020’s Clean, 2019’s The Good Life, and many more.

Anyway, let’s hope that Alec and Benedict collaborate on another project again sometime soon. Maybe they could be cast in the new Harry Potter reboot?
