Guy Ritchie’s Next Movie Receives a Promising All-Star Cast Update
The filmmaker continues his star-assembling action movie streak.
Summary:
- The upcoming action comedy film by The Gentlemen director will star Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill and Eiza González.
- Titled In The Grey, it follows a trio of elite thieves stealing back money of their clients.
- Next week Guy Ritchie also releases The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, starring Cavill and González.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch’s director entered his fruitful action era with the success of the 2019 hit, The Gentlemen. Since then he has maken mixedly received Jason Statham ’s starring Wrath of Man and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, while his collaboration with Jake Gyllenhaal seemed to be more critically acclaimed, despite their The Covenant becoming a big box office disappointment.
The filmmaker continues his work with the Road House actor in his upcoming action movie titled In The Grey. The project was spoken about at the recent CinemaCon, where Ritchie presented it alongside another leading actor of this movie.
It became known that In The Grey’s cast will also assemble two main stars of Ritchie’s this year movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, following the Special Operations Executive during World War II. This spy action comedy stars The Witcher ’s Geralt and DCU ’s Superman, Henry Cavill, and Eiza González from 3 Body Problem.
The trio of Gyllenhaal, Cavill and González is going to portray thieves who steal back enormous amounts of money stolen from their rich clients. They are joined by the acclaimed Rosamund Pike (Saltburn, Gone Girl), whose role is still unrevealed.
Such a star-studded cast adds to the movie’s presumable spectacularity and, given the level of humor usually present in Ritchie’s films, promises a fun buddy action roller coaster with our favorite actors, who are famous for their fitting in various genres.
The Internet is shocked by the filmmaker’s ambition to make more films, as it’s quite a rare tendency in today’s Hollywood.
“Guy Ritchie is reaching Ridley Scott levels of productivity,” admits Redditor @Plane-Floor-1237.
Indeed, since 2018 this director has been working non stop, doing a movie a year as no one really does nowadays.
Besides, cinema lovers are eagerly looking forward to his collaboration with the Superman actor in their two upcoming movies.
“The Richie/Cavill teamup was not something I would have predicted to happen, but I think it's a net positive for both,” predicts @SnideFarter.
While In The Grey is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 17, 2025, Cavill and González’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare premieres already on April 19.
