Fans still cannot help but roll their eyes remembering it.

If there's one thing that might look good on a show like Riverdale, but could never look right on Grey's Anatomy, it's a musical episode.

While the idea of it always sounds fun, the execution hurts even the most loyal viewers to the point where they're willing to do anything to forget it ever existed.

You simply cannot fit a musical episode into Grey's Anatomy's usual week-to-week drama and expect it to be well-received.

In fact, one would expect the opposite, given how much fans are usually involved in the universes these procedural TV dramas build around them. Young adult shows like Riverdale may rely on camp to attract more viewers.

Shows like Grey's Anatomy should know better than to resort to such tricks in a desperate attempt to boost ratings.

What pisses off the fanbase the most is how poorly the show treated a talent that could shine through many episodes instead of appearing once in an episode that no one cares to re-watch.

By having an actual Tony Award winner, Sara Elena Ramírez, in the cast, Shondaland could have used this as an opportunity to give her character, Callie Torres, a unique voice. Both literally and figuratively.

How fun would it be to see Callie treat music and singing as a real hobby? To have her sing in more appropriate moments?

To have the songs have a deeper meaning, to represent her emotional state and work as a metaphor? Well, all of that would undoubtedly be better than what happened in Song Beneath the Song.

Like many things that have happened to Callie Torres during her years on Grey's Anatomy, this one seems very unfair to the fans.

What's worse is that not even the actors themselves seemed to enjoy the insanity of the episode. Patrick Dempsey, for example, admitted that he thought the episode was "a big mistake."

Thankfully, the showrunners took a hint from the fan reaction to the episode and never repeated the experiment. Turns out, one time was more than enough to traumatize everyone for a very long time.

If you're feeling brave and ready to relive the trauma, you can stream Grey's Anatomy season 7 on ABC's website, Netflix, Hulu, or Disney Plus.
