GoT Fans, Time To Admit: There Was No Way To Prevent Daenerys From Snapping
The Targaryen line didn’t stand a chance.
Even though it's been more than four years since Game of Thrones officially ended, there's not a day that goes by that fans of the universe don't think about how the finale could have been much better if some things had gone differently.
Of course, as we all know, the fate of the characters was left up to showrunners Daniel Brett Weiss and David Benioff, and whether or not they did a good job is still up for debate. Fans of any of the Stark children would probably be satisfied with the way they ended up, but Daenerys' fans still have a lot to say.
As many viewers who rooted for the Targaryen queen believe, the story could (and should) have turned out differently if Daenerys hadn't lost all of her advisors along the way. Though she was smart and open to more teachings, she was very young and had endured too much trauma to make wise decisions on her own.
Without the proper guidance of Jorah Mormont, Ser Barristan Selmy, or Daario Naharis, she was expected to snap at the death of Missandei and two of her dragons, Rhaegal and Viserion. But if any of them had been on her side, fans believe things might have turned out differently.
However, if you were to watch the show again today, you would realize that there was no way to save Daenerys after her thirst for blood and power got worse and worse throughout the episodes. From one betrayal to the next, she couldn't handle all the losses in a very short period of time.
Though the viewers are right in thinking that she is strong and independent, she is still very much her father's daughter, and their similarities overpower common sense in no time. It was always going to happen, but it was hastened by all the misfortunes Daenerys had to endure in the last two years of the show.
The only thing we don't know for sure is whether or not the creator of the universe, George R.R. Martin, agrees with this character development. As of today, the final book of A Song of Ice and Fire is still in the works, so fans will have to wait a little longer to find out if Daenerys will face the same fate or take her place as the rightful queen.
