Gossip Mag Tries to Stir Up SVU Drama, But Ice-T and Meloni Aren't Having It
It appears that the National Enquirer is at it again, trying to stir up drama where there is none.
This time, they've set their sights on Law & Order: SVU stars Ice-T and Christopher Meloni, claiming that there's been a nasty rift between the two since Chris' character Elliot Stabler returned to the series in 2021. But, as is often the case with these types of pseudo-scandalous exposes, the truth is so much more mundane.
Ice-T took to social media to share an email he received from the National Enquirer, in which the publication notified him that they were planning to run an article about the supposed feud between him and Meloni. But, in true Ice-T fashion, he didn't take it lying down.
The actor posted the email to his followers, along with the not-so-polite message about National Enquirer "trying to make up drama outta thin air." Christopher Meloni also weighed in, sharing the email.
So, it seems that the National Enquirer's attempt to stir up drama between the two SVU legends has fallen flat. Both actors are friends in real life, and there's no feud to speak of.
Do Olivia & Elliot Have Enough Chemistry to Actually Make Bensler Work on SVU?
It's not uncommon for gossip magazines to try to create drama where there is none, but in this case, it's clear that Ice-T and Meloni aren't having it. They're both series mainstays, with Ice-T having been on the series for 23 years as Detective Fin Tutuola, and Chris having been on for 12 years before his 10-year hiatus and subsequent return. If there was a feud, it would blow up sooner rather than later, and very publicly at that, but as both actors have made clear, there's nothing to see here.
Fans have also weighed in, with some calling out the National Enquirer for their clickbait tactics and others expressing their love for the dynamic duo of Ice-T and Meloni.
"Whoever wrote that piece knows nothing about the character of Ice T... dude has nothing and no-one to be envious of," one of the fans wrote on Twitter.
