Do Olivia & Elliot Have Enough Chemistry to Actually Make Bensler Work on SVU?
Now that the shippers' dreams may be coming true in the wake of that promo, some fans can't help but feel concerned.
Some of us have been shipping Law and Order: SVU's Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler for years, waiting until that bestie dynamic finally evolves into something more. Well, now that the promo of season 24 episode 12 have given the fandom the ultimate reason to speculate on the possible new stage in the duo's relationship, some shippers are actually afraid that their dream-come-true might not be all sunshine and rainbows.
According to Redditor CaptCrunchBenson, at this point, Bensler might simply not handle the chemistry after all these years. The stakes at this "if/when" game are high enough for shippers to simply lose in it.
"I'm a little worried that after all this time and the way that the show has panned out with Liv basically being like "nope I'm going to ignore you" that the subtext and existing relationship that made it so great and made us all want it may be gone and make it not as great as it would have otherwise been," the Redditor noted.
Other fans noted that Bensler might be heading into the same trap many slow-burn pairings fell into, with fans quickly growing cold when the couple finally acknowledges their feelings and the main thing about the pairing — its tension — is starting to wear out.
After all this time, fans have already created so many dream scenarios for the pairing that them actually being endgame might end up disappointing no matter what the showrunners come up with.
Law & Order SVU Plot Twist Really Did This Character Dirty
However, many Bensler shippers simply want Olivia and Elliot to just admit their feelings and finally move on to no matter what the next stage in their relationship is. Besides, they are confident that the duo is perfectly capable of delivering the very same chemistry they had for years. Dedicated Bensler shippers are already bracing themselves for the "hot and steamy" development of their relationship.
Well, it looks like we just have to somehow wait for episode 12 to finally premiere and shed light on what's coming for the duo. The episode, titled Blood Out, will air on NBC on January 26.
