Gossip Girl's Chuck Bass Actor Wants to Do a Spin-Off about His Character
It’s been years since we’ve heard from the cast members of the original Gossip Girl, but now Ed Westwick suddenly comes in with a huge and unexpected revelation!
Be real with us here: when was the last time you actually heard from anyone from the original Gossip Girl? The show ended in 2012, more than a decade ago, and apart from random public appearances, there hasn’t been much news from any of the actors — except, of course, Blake Lively, that is. She’s awesome.
Even if you were a fan of the show back in the day, you’ve likely forgotten half of the characters by now — but we’re certain that you haven’t forgotten Chuck Bass, the beau fatal of Blair Waldorf, the main character of Gossip Girl. This duo’s complicated relationship has been getting on the audience’s nerves too much to forget them.
Now, recently, with no prior build-up, the Chuck Bass actor — Ed Westwick — claimed that he wanted to make a spin-off to the original Gossip Girl and tried to find common grounds with the show’s creator to see if it could work. It came completely out of the blue, in one of the comments under his pictures from Turkey!
The actor posted an assortment of photos and videos from his trip to Bodrum, Turkey, and as always, the comment section was instantly flooded with hundreds of people calling him Chuck Bass and claiming that they loved him and the series.
We thought to ourselves, come on people, it’s been over ten years since the show ended, Westwick has clearly moved on from playing Chuck Bass ages ago… And then we noticed the actor’s reply under one of the fans’ comments.
“Chuch Bass forever,” said the comment.
“I wanna do a spin-off,” replied Ed Westwick.
The people went nuts under this reply: we can’t be bothered to count every single one “yes please” and “OMG yes” down there, but there are dozens of those at the very least. In another comment, Ed specified that he was trying to see what could be done about this spin-off to Gossip Girl that he had in mind, but no more news so far.
Could you imagine a dozen years ago that Gossip Girl would not just have a full reboot by 2023 but also one of the original’s most beloved actors trying to put together a spin-off? We definitely couldn’t but here we are, staring at Ed Westwick’s Instagram page in confusion and utter disbelief.
