Yet we might have to wait another couple of decades before it’s out.

It seems like George R.R. Martin is finally done with House of the Dragon ’s misleading storyline about the dragons, and it’s good news — though bad news is that plenty of time might pass before the problem is fixed.

The author’s long-promised sixth chapter of A Song of Ice and Fire titled The Winds of Winter is already long overdue considering that the novel was initially supposed to cover the last events of Game of Thrones, yet the show’s creators had to come up with their own ideas after all.

Now that years have passed since George R.R. Martin announced The Winds of Winter, the chances that the book isn’t that far from finally being released are, surprisingly, getting bigger. Having taken it to his social media, the author just shared a major update that is likely to fix House of the Dragon’s most controversial issue to date.

Upon House of the Dragon’s latest episode’s release last Sunday, Martin published a lengthy message in his blog sharing all the excitement that fans have for the following episodes and stating that the major dragon battle that The Red Dragon and the Gold featured was a whole new level for the show’s epic story.

However, the author didn’t skip an opportunity to slam House of the Dragon’s creators for confusing everyone with an inaccurate flag of House Targaryen that has a four-legged dragon instead of a normal two-legged one.

The prequel’s problem with the Targaryens’ sigil as well joins a long list of failures that the whole franchise ever had in regard to addressing the dragons’ way of living, though, according to Martin, the list may finally stop growing pretty soon.

Dwelling on the history of the fire-spitting beasts’ existence in the world’s folklore, the author revealed that the long-awaited explanation of the relationships between dragons and people in Westeros will be featured in The Winds of Winter and final chapter A Dream of Spring, as well as in Fire and Blood’s sequel Blood and Fire.

As Martin himself stated in the message, the future novels will unveil how the dragons “bond with men... Some men... And the why and how of that, and how it came to be, will eventually be revealed in more detail.”

Probably knowing that the books’ arrival to the stores will still take a while, Martin gave a little sneak peek into the whole matter, saying that “like wolves and bears and lions, dragons can be trained, but never entirely tamed. They will always be dangerous. Some are wilder and more willful than others. They are individuals, they have personalities… And they often reflect the personalities of their riders, thanks to bond they share are. They do not care a whit about gold or gems, no more than a tiger would. Unless maybe their rider was obsessed with the shiny stuff, and even then…”

With its first part titled A Game of Thrones and published back in 1996, George R.R. Martin’s epic book series A Song of Ice and Fire is yet to be finished with two more installments which are already traditionally promised to be dropped every single year.

So far the saga is to be completed by two more novels, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, release dates for both of which are still to be determined.
