Who would refuse to earn an entire fortune for just one day of filming? Apparently, George Clooney — the man doesn’t want to lose a minute of his sleep for money.

Without a doubt, George Clooney is one of the most iconic actors in Hollywood with a track record consisting of many great movies and TV shows. Okay, maybe, not all of them were great (yes, Batman & Robin, we’re looking at you), but such failures were more than balanced out by masterpieces like Ocean’s Eleven.

Throughout his career, Clooney has earned a stellar reputation and quite a fortune, but few people realize just how rich the actor is. As of October 2023, George Clooney’s net worth is estimated to be over $500M — more than halfway to a billion!

Such a fortune really put things into a different perspective for Clooney and offers that used to look impossible to ignore began raising more questions for the actor. People who don’t have access to such money can’t understand how holding a fortune changes one’s perception of money, but Clooney has a great example.

“I was offered $35M for one day’s work for an airline commercial, but I talked to Amal [the actor’s wife] about it and we decided it’s not worth it. [The airline was associated with] a country that, although it’s an ally, is questionable at times, and so I thought: ‘Well, if it takes a minute’s sleep away from me, it’s not worth it’,” the actor shared with The Guardian.

One day’s work as an actor, one single commercial paying $35M… Can you imagine passing up on such an offer? We can’t, either. But for George Clooney, the man sitting on half a billion dollars, this wasn’t hard: at that point, he realized that his principles were priceless, and as enticing as the offer sounded, he rejected it.

During the same interview, George Clooney admitted that he was already past the moment of realization that he had more than enough money to last him a lifetime. After that, even the richest airline on the planet can’t buy you, it seems!
