Laura Wright has made her choice.

Summary:

  • Like any other soap opera, General Hospital relies heavily on the interpersonal relationships between the characters.
  • Over the years, Carly Spencer has been involved in several romances, but it's only her relationship with Sonny Corinthos that still dictates some of the decisions in her life.
  • According to Laura Wright, who portrays Carly, the romance with Jason will never happen as long as Sonny is around.

One of the most intriguing parts of any soap opera that keeps viewers hooked is the romance between the characters. Without romance, no one would be interested in watching either show, so any time a fan-favorite character ends up single, it's a sign of a new relationship to come.

After her breakup with Drew and their mutual decision to leave the past alone, Carly started a new life as a single woman, still very much involved with various men around her. But only one of them seems to be holding her back, even after more than two decades of shared history.

Will Carly Get Back With Jason?

Speaking to Daytime Confidential, Laura Wright was open to just about every romance possibility, except one. While many fans are hoping and praying that Jason Morgan will return to Port Charles only to fall back into the arms of his best friend, the reality may be far more disappointing.

According to the actress, Jason is the only person who's off-limits to Carly as long as Sonny is around:

“If Sonny is around, Jason and Carly aren’t going to be to together, I don’t think. I don’t think Jason trusts Carly [with Sonny in the picture], you know? I feel like if they are together, they have to be all-in and, like, ride into the sunset together. I don’t feel like they can live in the same town with Sonny and function. I think they just have to be alone,” she said.

It looks like the citizens of Port Charles are in for a series of revelations about the town's most dangerous mobster. However, the chances that it will end with Sonny changing his ways and Maurice Benard leaving the soap are so slim that Jarly fans shouldn't really count on it.

Speaking of other contenders for Carly's heart, Wright was very supportive of Charles Mesure's Brennan or Adam J. Harrington's FBI agent John. However, the actress was vague enough not to promise viewers anything in particular, so we will have to wait and see where the writers decide to take her character in the future.

To see how Carly's love life evolves and unravels in the upcoming episodes of General Hospital, tune in to the soap opera Monday through Friday on ABC.
