Nobody can be THAT perfect!

Summary:

  • General Hospital is full of characters whose core personality changes from time to time.
  • Carly’s character was portrayed by several actresses, and all of them brought something new to the role.
  • The last version of Carly is too perfect and it’s annoying fans.

General Hospital is one of the longest running shows on television. It debuted in 1963 and is still as popular as it was when our grandmothers watched it.

There are a lot of storylines and a lot of characters that have been washed off the soap opera over time, but some of them stick around for a long time. For example, do you remember Carly, who was introduced in 1996?

The character was portrayed by Sarah Brown and has a perfect villainous introduction to the series. Fans of the show hold this time in their hearts as the best period for the character.

“Her Carly was so deliciously down in the dirt and totally owning it. And she was LAZY! Yes, lazy. Something female villains had never been allowed to be. But the original Carly was there to represent all of us watching from home while laying on a couch doing nothing,” Redditor PeteNYC24 said.

Later in 2001, the actress was replaced by Tamara Braun. At first the audience boycotted her, but then they came to like the change. However, they still thought that Braun was a little too elegant for the role. She lasted until 2005.

Then, for a brief moment, Carly was played by Jennifer Bransford, before we finally got the Carly we know and love now – Laura Wright – in that same year of 2005. The hardcore fans remember this time and say that at first it was impossible to imagine the actress in the role of the Carly they already knew.

In the end, they realized that Wright's portrayal of this deeply flawed person was the best. However, fans couldn't let go of the fact that the original idea of Carly's character changed a lot over the years.

From a villain, she became the sympathetic mother of a teenage heroine, which simply muted her catty and vicious personality traits. And with this tedious pairing with Drew, she became this magical superwoman.

“She can change jobs to a completely new career and out negotiate a master negotiator. She might lose some money or something but she'll be given something else and retain the friendships and family relationships with everyone. She never loses those. It's boring,” Redditor NightBard said.

Well, if you want to see if you grow to love this new version of Carly, the latest episodes of General Hospital are available to stream on Hulu.
