General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison Lands a New Job: Is Drew Finally Leaving?
It’s time for a big change.
Summary:
- Since the recast, Drew Cain hasn't been the most popular with fans, as many couldn't adjust to the changes in his personality.
- The way he treated Nina during their last conflict was the final nail in his coffin.
- Now that Cameron Mathison has landed a new hosting job, fans are hoping that this will mean some changes for Drew, but that does not seem to be the case.
At this point, pretty much every single General Hospital fan can agree that Port Charles is overpopulated. There are about 10 characters whose storylines haven't been the best lately and who either need a big change or some kind of finale. Drew Cain, however, would be at the top of that list in the eyes of many.
Portrayed by Cameron Mathison, the once beloved twin brother of Jason Morgan gradually lost all of his appeal and turned into an incoherent and overly aggressive man with no real appeal to any of the viewers. Now that Mathison has landed a new hosting gig, could this be the perfect time to say goodbye to Drew?
Is Cameron Mathison Leaving General Hospital?
Cameron Mathison has been a part of the General Hospital cast since 2021, but he wasn't immediately accepted by any of the fans. Throughout his run as Drew Cain, there have been a few instances of rumors of his exit spreading around the web, but none of them ended up being true.
The latest batch came with the happy announcement that the actor is joining the production of Game Show Network's Beat The Bridge as a host. The show will be based on the BBC's Bridge Of Lies and will feature an interactive bridge that a player must cross in order to win money. In order to move forward, the player must answer a trivia quiz correctly.
This show won't be Mathison's hosting debut, as the actor has hosted a number of game shows since the mid-2000s. You could've seen him host TLC's Your Place or Mine or Canadian Game of Homes.
You might think that this new project will take up so much time that the star won't be able to return to General Hospital as Drew on a regular basis, but that's not the case. According to Soap Opera Digest, Mathison has already filmed a full 100 of the game show episodes without any real interference with General Hospital's schedule.
Will Carly and Drew Get Back Together?
If we're going to see more Drew on General Hospital, whether we want to or not, it's interesting to see where the show will take him. As it stands, his breakup with Carly has been finalized by his twin brother's return, and if anything, fans would expect her to get back with Jason, not Drew.
What is possible, however, is that Drew's plans for revenge will get him involved with Nina. Even though this possibility doesn't sound too realistic, and many viewers probably wouldn't get behind such a decision, it would definitely be a fun soapy move.
If you are interested in more realistic versions of events, be sure to tune in to General Hospital Monday through Friday to see what Drew is really up to. Be the first to know about news and behind-the-scenes updates from your favorite show.
