The only Wonder Woman sequel we’d want to watch.

Although the world of soap opera is known for its ever-changing casts, one thing that doesn't get enough credit is the number of actors who remain loyal to their favorite shows and characters for decades. General Hospital, the ABC soap that will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2023, is no stranger to this phenomenon.

There are as many cast members who have grown up with the show as there are viewers who share the same experience. One of the actresses celebrating 20 years on the show, Kelly Monaco, joined the cast in 2003 when she was 27. Now, at 47, she can reflect on her journey both on and off the series.

Monaco's character, Sam McCall, has had many ups and downs, and each one has only added to her character. However, there is something that the actress regrets about the current state of Sam's storyline.

She opened up about it during a celebratory interview with Soap Opera Digest:

“Elizabeth and Sam have so much to relate to one another about. They’ve been through so much together, so much loss and heartbreak and their children share a father. Instead of having them ignore each other, they should come together and get into some shenanigans! <...> I’d love the two of them to go out and be Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman II, you know?” the actress shared.

While the latter statement may be a joke, the reality is that if General Hospital has any female characters worthy of a superhero title, it would be Sam and Liz, after everything they've been through.

Apparently, the showrunners aren't too interested in exploring the relationship between them right now, but viewers, along with the actress, sense the possibility of a very interesting dynamic that could unfold at any moment.

Besides, according to Monaco, she and Rebecca Herbst are good friends in real life, so the story would be a joy to shoot.

Would you like to see a combined arc for Sam and Liz?

If you are interested in what Port Charles has in store for Kelly Monaco's Sam McCall, be sure to tune in to the new General Hospital episodes Monday through Friday on ABC.
