It's time to let the criminals off the leash.

There is nothing fans of General Hospital love more than watching the chaos unfold around their favorite characters.

Just like any other soap, the more drama the better, and that is exactly why the hospital's storyline has a whole criminal mob arc intertwined with it.

Although the stories were entertaining at times, viewers now feel that the mob has suddenly become too tame for their tastes.

Sugar-coated crime is much worse to watch than no crime at all, so many feel that this is the perfect time for the writers to make a tough decision: either write off the mob completely, along with both Sonny and Carly, or make them dangerous again.

Yes, letting go of both Carly and Sonny would mean letting go of the entire era of General Hospital with them, as their respective actors, Laura Wright and Maurice Benard, have appeared in the highest number of episodes during their run.

However, this change may not be fatal for the show, but on the contrary, it may give it the fresh start it needs. Of course, fans do not believe that the show could continue without some sort of criminal element.

Relationship drama, family scandals, illness, and sudden deaths always hit harder under the pressure of a character being arrested for multiple crimes.

So it's time to shine the spotlight on another great villain who could easily turn life in Port Charles into a real mess.

There is no one better cut to be a cold killer who can spread fear throughout the town than Selina, and many viewers are even hoping to see her behind Sonny's downfall.

Letting a real villain win at least once would not only make the show more believable, but it would show the fans that they still have a lot to lose.

It would help General Hospital build the tension it so desperately needs if it wants viewers to stop skipping every other episode.

Whether you agree with taking out the mob or taking it to the next level, we'll have to wait and see which way the show goes.

Tune in to ABC Monday through Friday to not miss the new episode of General Hospital.
