General Hospital Just Destroyed Jason Morgan’s Character, but No One Is Surprised
No one matters if Carly is involved.
General Hospital may have been on the air for more than 60 years, but the state of its writers' room has never been worse. Not only is the soap painfully simple and boring most of the time, it has become too predictable, especially when it comes to some of its most popular characters.
Whether it is simple favoritism that the show's creators do not want to hide or a series of extremely unfortunate coincidences, but at this point every General Hospital viewer knows: Carly can get away with anything she wants. Her character no longer lives by the same rules as any other Port Charles resident.
But what's even more disturbing is how willing the writers are to ruin someone else's character in order to keep her alive. Even if that character is a fan favorite who just came back from the dead.
What Happened to Jason Morgan on General Hospital?
By wrapping up the story of Carly's near-incarceration in 15 minutes on an ordinary Tuesday, General Hospital just added this arc to the long list of others ruined by the creators' bias. Most viewers, accustomed to storylines that lead nowhere, wouldn't pay any attention if it didn't put Jason Morgan in the worst possible situation.
Returning to Port Charles after 2 years where everyone thought he was dead, including his loved ones and children, Jason had to have a good reason to explain his disappearance. However, the way the show wrapped it all up makes viewers think his character was ruined for nothing.
Not that any of General Hospital's characters are known for being particularly good fathers, but Jason's willingness to risk everything for Carly does not look romantic or noble. In fact, it makes him look like a fool, while her entire case has most likely been solved by Jack Brennan by now. And it's easy to see who she's going to see as the hero.
While whatever happens now between Carly and Brennan may be exciting for some, Jason's character development leaves a lot of questions hanging in the air.
Should this underwhelming moment be the end of his devotion to Carly? Will he finally be free to explore other options or make up for what his children have lost in him during his years of absence? Will General Hospital come up with something that will make viewers believe that Steve Burton's return was well thought out? We'll just have to wait and see.
To get all the answers firsthand, be sure to tune in to General Hospital Monday through Friday on ABC.
