Port Charles is in desperate need of Planned Parenthood.

Summary:

  • General Hospital is an iconic ABC soap opera that has been on the air since 1963.
  • Recently, the show has been heavily criticized for the number of baby-related storylines.
  • From what fans have gathered, there might be another one thrown into the mix, this time with Trina and Spencer as parents.

There is nothing unusual about soap operas juggling the same few tropes over and over again, especially when it comes to shows that have been on the air as long as General Hospital. While there are no limits to creativity, there are certainly only so many twists and turns that can be added to the plot without it becoming too repetitive.

Of course, the twists that get viewers the most excited and the most outrageous are those that involve either lovers or parents and their children. From baby swapping to kidnapping, the soaps have been known to push the buttons of every parent out there and keep them coming back to see if justice will be restored.

General Hospital has never been an exception to this rule, as viewers have always enjoyed a good baby drama. However, about a year ago, the population of Port Charles began to grow so rapidly that viewers now have to beg the writers to stop before they have to create a separate spin-off for daycare adventures.

Will Spencer and Trina Have a Baby?

Starting with Willow's C-section in January 2023, half of General Hospital began to revolve around various babies. It's a little ironic that Willow's daughter Amelia isn't even in the middle of the baby boom anymore. Now the scene is taken over by the absurd surrogacy storyline with Molly and Kristina and Esme's baby Ace.

Considering the terrible imbalance that already exists in the wiring of General Hospital, spending so much time on back and forth with babies in the middle seems like the worst torture imaginable. Not only can the viewers predict where the storylines are going, they don't like it and wish the storylines would be scrapped altogether.

The biggest disappointment seems to be ahead of us, as Esme will probably try to get revenge on Spencer, who took baby Ace away from her. While audiences are mostly happy to see General Hospital shaken up by the level of unhinged crimes Esme can pull off, there is a great danger of the show introducing yet another child into the mix.

How do you avenge the loss of one child if not by taking someone else's, right? As questionable as the idea may sound, it fits perfectly with the level of logic that the writers of General Hospital have been using lately. To make this story work, Trina will have to become a mother next, whether she's ready or not.

The only hope General Hospital fandom has now is that the new head writers behind the soap will not let this nonsense slide. While they will have to wrap up the existing arcs somehow, the new ones better revolve around adults.
