General Hospital Fans Are Not In Favor Of This Goodie Two-Shoes Character
The soap is soaping only if there is enough chaos.
The better the soap opera, the more criminals it has. This may not be a statistically proven rule, but it definitely feels like it to the general audience that tunes in for the chaos.
General Hospital has learned its lesson pretty well, being on the air for 60 years straight and still maintaining a very vibrant and strong fan base.
However, things seem to be changing, and not for the better. While the fan-favorite characters are getting older and a little less ruthless in what they do, the younger ones cannot keep up.
Packed with rather boring storylines of sickness and tearful family reunions, episodes are being skipped more and more often, which is not a good sign for any television show.
One particular character that stands out for being just too good and too forgiving, which is borderline boring at this point, is Trina Robinson.
Although she is loved as part of the #Sprina pairing with Spencer Cassadine, otherwise her character just doesn't fit into the chaotic vibe that General Hospital used to have.
She's good, and that's the problem. Viewers don't really want her only moral dilemma to be judging her best friend for cheating.
They want the drama that was so easily skipped over before. Trina has forgiven Spencer for everything he's done. Trina forgave Portia for lying to her about her father.
And even though she would never be able to forgive Esme, or even want to, she wouldn't do anything about her either.
It is nice for a change to see a character a little closer to someone from real life, without the tendency to turn everything into an opportunity for revenge.
However, sometimes it is just needed for the show value, and Trina does not provide that value at all.
Fans feel that this is just another case of how General Hospital's diminishing quality of writing can turn an interesting character into a flat one.
If you are willing to give them a chance and redeem themselves with Trina, tune in to ABC Monday through Friday to not miss her appearances.
