The first episode’s most anticipated scene turned out to be a total flop.

The Starks’ highly anticipated appearance in House of the Dragon ’s brand new second season was supposed to become a start for another epic storyline intertwining with the Targaryens’ feud, but instead made things even worse.

The premiere episode left many fans mad about Cregan Stark’s brief appearance that surely wasn’t worth all the hype surrounding House of the Dragon’s new installment months before the release.

The several-minute-long scene then caused even more confusion for Game of Thrones ’ lovers, who are now completely bewildered by the whole idea of the Starks and the White Walkers’ long-standing tension. Now that Cregan Stark’s version of the whole story hits completely different, some other plot twists in the original series appear to be questionable.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 episode 1 features Cregan Stark telling Rhaenyra’s son Jacaerys about a potential threat for the House Stark that comes from behind the Wall. He also stressed that protecting his motherland is now his number one priority, though he wouldn’t mind teaming up with the Blacks in the upcoming war either.

The Lord of Winterfell also dives deeper into the whole matter, recounting that years earlier King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne's dragons repeatedly refused — or weren’t able — to go beyond the Wall. This particular detail could easily pass by the viewers if it wasn’t for the pre-established Game of Thrones lore.

The original show once made it clear that the Targaryens had no trouble crossing the Wall on their dragons as Daenerys Targaryen did exactly the same trying to save Jon Snow.

What’s especially suspicious here is that Cregan’s story proves that the whole problem wasn’t just in one specific dragon, as at least two of them weren’t able to go beyond the Wall for some reason, and each of them was believed to be significantly stronger than Daenerys’ dragons.

So far, there’s no logical explanation for why the Wall eventually became an obstacle for some dragons and was no trouble for others, but what’s clear here is that Game of Thrones in this case is finally safe from being blamed, as another big plot hole is surely House of the Dragon’s flaw.
