Game of Thrones Did Have a Great Musician Cameo, And Of Course It Wasn't Ed Sheeran
Guess who, then?
Having celebrities appearing in shows and movies to boost them up and even create some hype is actually a tale as old as time. Sometimes those cameos work for the better, but sometimes they are absolutely hated. And one project can even have it all.
For example, the fans of Game of Thrones are familiar with the show’s love to bring in famous musicians, but not every time they did it ended up being appreciated by the public.
The most famous appearance of such was probably of Ed Sheeran during season 7, when he played a part of a Lannister soldier singing a song. However, this cameo was hated among the viewers.
“My problem with it was he just didn't look the part. You might say it's because he is a notable person but I feel like they just picked up every day Ed Sheeran and plopped him into Westeros,” Redditor shadowblazr said.
When Did Coldplay Appear in Game of Thrones?
But there was another musician's cameo that was surprisingly well received by the audience, and that's Coldplay's drummer, Will Champion. It happened in season 3 during the infamous Red Wedding and it was actually quite significant.
The way Champion fit into the show was just brilliant. For those who don't remember, in that episode, Robb Stark's army arrives at House Frey's castle to attend Edmure Tully's wedding.
But everything goes wrong for them when they hear the song associated with House Lannister at the wedding. Champion played the very familiar role of the drummer in the band hired by the hosts. And the rest is history...
The musician's cameo felt very natural, but could have gone unnoticed. Maybe only the hardcore fans of the band would have detected Champion.
If you don't remember any of this, maybe give Game of Thrones another shot? Or at least rewatch season 3 on Max.
