Since when does everything need an advisor?

Game of Thrones is one of the most iconic TV series ever. The fanbase of the show is really huge, and the series has got many awards for being the best drama show for years.

However, many things about the show had the fandom divided every now and then. One of those things was actually the Game of Thrones’ occasionally cringeworthy sex scenes. Many fans and critics were very unhappy with the way the show's creators handled this aspect of the series.

Game of Thrones has always been a subject of discussion for its sensational nudity. There was always a sense that the show was using its sexually charged scenes to attract more viewers, if not directly, then by spreading the word.

The thing is, not every single controversial scene was absolutely necessary. For example, fans feel strongly about Sansa's rape scene.

It served no purpose at all. It didn't add any depth to Sansa's character arc, as she had already been through her darkest time, and adding more tragedy and trauma to the mix only had a negative influence.

The thing is, all that sex cringe happened in the show and made it worse was for the one simple reason: they didn’t have an intimacy coordinator. This is a person who works to make sure that the actors involved in a sex scene aren't pressured to perform the act, and that they feel comfortable. And they also help make the performance as realistic as possible.

After many complaints about the show's disturbing sex scenes, HBO finally announced in 2018 that every show from now on would be required to have an intimacy coordinator. And of course Game Of Thrones also got one towards the end of the show.

However, since Game of Thrones was already filming its final season at the time, the effects of an intimacy coordinator weren't really noticeable. Well, Game of Thrones walked so other shows could run…

But luckily we have the next best thing, its prequel House of the Dragon, for an appropriate comparison. In contrast to the parent show, sex scenes in House of the Dragon have intimacy and warmth to them… as much as they can.
