Game of Thrones Cersei Fan Theory Would Have Left Westeros in Shambles
Fans sure love their theories. Never more so than when their favorite show is seen as floundering, and therefore more and more theories are invented in an attempt to think of something which might right is course.
Such was the case with the later season of Game of Thrones. The show was criticized long before its Season 8, and many of the more devoted fans spent their time inventing and discussing theories on how to save its finale.
And while some of those ideas were pretty good and inventive, others can only be called bizarre or wild to the point of being downright insane.
Such as the fan theory that Cersei was going to be "recruited" by the White Walkers, becoming the Night Queen. On some level this almost makes sense, almost.
The problem of Game of Thrones Season 8 was that the greatest battle against the biggest threat occurred mid-season and the final confrontation with Cersei was anticlimactic. And if you want to go even further into crazy theories, one of them pointed at Jaime as the true reincarnation of Azor Ahai, and Cersei was threatened by a prophecy about getting killed by her sibling…
But once you come back to your senses, not only you realize that for this to happen Westeros must have been left in shambles and ruin, with the army of the dead reaching as far as King's Landing (not like Cersei was in a hurry to meet them).
You also realize that the whole thing required reworking the White Walkers from the silent, single-minded, non-communicative wave of death and destruction that they were, with far too little screentime to do it.
Otherwise there would have been no meaning to Cersei joining their ranks, even as a proper Walker, not a mere reanimated corpse. Even in case of the showrunners actually having nerve to stick with the "political games were always meaningless in the face of the coming apocalypse" theme, Cersei the Night Queen simply did not fit the lore (though her dying ignominiously and becoming another one of the Night King's obedient minions before the final battle might have been fitting).
So, no, some fan theories definitely would not have improved GoT Season 8.
