Fans Think They Figured Out When House of the Dragon Season 2 Comes Out
Without new episodes every week, it takes all the brainstorming one can get.
House of the Dragon went out with a bang this October, setting stage for the Targaryen internal war known as Dance of the Dragons, and leaving the entire fandom buzzing for at least a year before the second chapter comes out.
With the shooting set to kick off in March 2023, it seems that fans will have to brace themselves for an excruciatingly long wait. According to actor Ewan Mitchell, who portrays Aemond Targaryen in the show, the shooting will take at least eight months.
This basically means that season 2 is likely to wrap on November 2023. Fans were quick to theorize that the premiere might either be scheduled for spring 2024 or summer 2024.
One Twitter fan noted that "they [House of the Dragon creators] don't want it to overlap with Succession 's final season" — which, however, also does not have a certain release date yet.
Other fans noted that CGI might take plenty of time as well, since House of the Dragon relies heavily on VFX in order to deliver realistic dragons. With season 2 to be focused on dragons even more due to the actual war happening, CGI work might take up even longer than previous season did.

The first season took some 18 months to make. Should that be the case with the second installment, House of the Dragon season 2 might arrive no sooner than June 2024; if not some time later.
HBO is yet to clear things up on the exact premiere date. However, no news should be expected before the actual shooting starts in March 2023.
