Ewan Michell Explains Why He Shaved His Hair Off For HotD Season 2
Is it time to get worried for that gorgeous hair?
Aemond Targaryen is arguably the House of the Dragon character with the most enviable hairstyle, with fans joking about how his hair routine might take him a long time in the morning.
Basically, hair is an essential part of the show, as by the looks of it one can detect a Targaryen in the crowd. So why on Earth would Ewan Mitchell, who portrays Aemond, shave it off?

Take it easy. One needs to remember that signature Targaryen blond hair is the courtesy of the wigs used in the show; and in order for them to work properly, certain sacrifices are needed from actors sometimes.
"We're going to be shooting for eight months next year. We're in the preparation phase of that now, which is why I've got my hair buzzed off, for the wig fittings," Mitchell told The Face.
For his character, the upcoming season 2 is something different, Mitchell admits. Per his own words, "if season one was about seeing Aemond getting warmed up, season two is all-out war." Nevertheless, it was him who kickstarted the Dance of the Dragons by chasing Lucerys on Vhagar and not managing to keep her from attacking his nephew.
"So much of this season sees this family's world balanced on a knife's edge. All it's going to take is a push from either side to draw blood," Mitchell says, noting that his character ended up being the one to start the storm.
House of the Dragon season 2 is set to begin filming in March 2023, with Mitchell revealing that the shooting will take at least eight months. HBO is yet to unveil the premiere date.
