Fun Fashion Fact About Gwendoline Christie's Lucifer in 'The Sandman'
In case you enjoyed the fashion choices in Hell, there is a person in the human realm responsible for them.
In Netflix 's 'The Sandman ', Gwendoline Christie 's Lucifer only appeared in episode 4, 'A Hope in Hell', and briefly hinted at the possibility of taking revenge on Morpheus in the final episode. However, even her limited screen time was enough for fans to appreciate the character – and particularly Lucifer's fashion choices.
Despite brief appearances, Lucifer rocked several outfits, sporting an all-white debuting look with black wings, an all-black battle outfit, and a casual red gown perfect for mulling payback for your enemies during yet another hot evening in Hell.
The one responsible for Lucifer's style was in fact Christie's real-life partner, Giles Deacon. He is a renowned British fashion designer, who worked for Gucci and Bottega Veneta before launching his own brand, GILES. During 2004 London Fashion Week, he was named Best New Designer.
In 2016, he launched his first haute couture collection and was the one to design the wedding dress of Pippa Middleton, sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, a year later.
Now Giles can also boast of being Lucifer's personal designer in his portfolio. Some fans have already joked about how having your partner design your clothes for the role of the ruler of Hell is "absolute couple goals", while others turned out to be upset about not a single Lucifer outfit being backless – like Pippa Middleton's wedding dress.
This is not the first time Giles designs outfits for his muse. When Christie starred as Titania and Hippolyta in a new version of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in London's Bridge Theater, her partner was the one to design two dresses for that performance. Besides, Christie often models for Giles, and praises him for "an exquisite artistic vision with a brilliant and highly developed discipline".
