From Joan is Awful to Twilight Zone Copy: Black Mirror S6 Episodes, Ranked by Fans
Each in its own way, the S6 episodes were disappointing.
The new season of Charlie Brooker's dystopian series Black Mirror turned out to be a complete flop, as most viewers hated how the show departed from its usual theme of technophobia.
Here is fans' ranking of all five episodes of Season 6, which were all disappointing in one way or another.
5. Demon 79
The story revolves around Nida, an Indian-British saleswoman, who suffers the attacks of her boss, colleagues, and local politicians because of her ethnicity. After finding a strange artifact in the basement, Nida summons the demon, who tells her she must kill three people to prevent an apocalypse.
According to fans, the episode is just a boring retelling of Tales from the Crypt, and people didn't like how it deviated completely from the usual Black Mirror themes.
4. Mazey Day
Mazey Day, a famous actress who has disappeared from the press radar for a while after a drunk driving accident, is being chased by paparazzi hoping to get a picture of the star. One of them is the episode's main character, Bo.
Fans are wondering why this Twilight Zone parody got included in the anthology. Though 'Mazey Day' kept people on the edge of their seats for most of its run, the ending knocked them out completely.
3. Loch Henry
A young filmmaker and his girlfriend come to visit his mother at his rural hometown and decide to make a documentary about a local maniac who operated there in the past.
Once again, this episode has nothing to do with technology, and though it managed to make viewers nervous, some say the ending was rather predictable.
2. Beyond the Sea
Starring Aaron Paul and Josh Hartnett, 'Beyond the Sea' is the most expensive episode of the current season. Its main characters are two astronauts on a mission in space, who can transfer their minds to robotic bodies back on Earth to spend time with their families. Things go awry when one of the protagonists loses his family and is unable to cope with the grief.
People say the episode is not bad, but the plot is somewhat predictable.
1. Joan is Awful
The first episode of Season 6 is the only one that feels similar to the series' previous installments. Its central character, Joan, finds out there is a TV series based on her life, starring an AI-generated version of Salma Hayek and produced by Streamberry, a fictional analog of Netflix.
Even though the episode has the same Black Mirror vibes of early seasons, viewers say its quality is inferior. But it's still the best episode Season 6 has to offer!
