Man, it is good to live in the 21st century.

There's no doubt that Friends is one of the best TV shows ever. The group of 6 friends trying to live their best lives in New York and find someone to love became a really compelling story for lots of fans.

The adventures of Ross, Chandler, Joey, Rachel, Phoebe and Monica were sometimes sweet and emotional, sometimes frankly silly and definitely cringeworthy at times. But there were even times when the show seemed controversial and got banned for the stories it told.

The first time one of the storylines was not accepted at once was actually episode 17 of season 4. This particular episode is called The One With The Free Porn, and we guess that detail is enough to make you realize why it was banned.

The episode actually had a lot going on, like Phoebe finally finding out that the baby she's carrying for her brother is actually triplets. Or, for example, another storyline that will become a major one for the show. This episode is the one where Ross and Rachel finally declare their love.

However, what got the episode banned in the UK was the tiny storyline of Chandler and Joey discovering a free adult channel on their TV. This became a critical point in the decision-making process.

Another progressive storyline of the show that wasn't really to the liking of the conservative audience was the one that happened in season 2 episode 11. It's the iconic episode where Ross' ex-wife Carol finally married her girlfriend Susan. And the one where Phoebe's inner grandmother spirit finally "saw everything".

The thing is, it was actually the first time a same-sex wedding was ever shown on television. So, frankly, it is no surprise that some of the more conservative areas of the U.S. found it offensive and more. And the episode was banned on some platforms.

Yet, despite the ban, the episode featuring Carol and Susan's wedding actually became one of the most popular of the entire show, drawing 31.6 million viewers.
