Fresh Sequel to Netflix's New Sci-Fi Saga Gets DESTROYED by Fans and Critics
Part One was controversial at best, but Part Two has even diehard fans fuming.
Summary:
- After leaving the DCEU, Zack Snyder started on Netflix ’s very own “new Star Wars for adults.”
- Rebel Moon: Part One was controversial, but Part Two proved to be a disaster of a movie.
- With worse scores than the original, The Scargiver is hated even by Zack Snyder’s fans.
People can be roughly separated into two groups: those who adore Zack Snyder and his Snydercuts and those who hate everything about the man. After the director lost the DCEU, he was picked up by Netflix and given a massive budget to create what’s basically a “new Star Wars for adults” — a sci-fi franchise called Rebel Moon.
There was a lot of hype about this project, but so far, it really hasn’t been going well.
Rebel Moon Part II Gets Destroyed
The new franchise’s first installment, A Child of Fire, didn’t perform too well: despite the hype around the movie, it received underwhelming (at best) 21 and 58% Critic and Audience Scores on Rotten Tomatoes, respectively. Many fans were left disappointed, but others claimed that as an entry movie, it wasn’t going to be great — and the real gem would come with the sequel.
Well, the sequel is here… And the optimistic projections were off by a long shot.
Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver premiered on Netflix not too long ago, and it continued the trend set by its predecessor: a hollow, mindless, poor rip-off movie, according to most viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, The Scargiver performed even worse than the original film, frustrating critics and fans with 17 and 53%, respectively.
Even Snyder Fans Hate Rebel Moon
Considering how controversial Zack Snyder is as a movie director, it might seem plausible that it’s his haters who are trying to sink Rebel Moon 2, right? Well, not really. Even the director’s fans — those who still stick with his Justice League, which is a sin in most people’s eyes — admit that the new franchise is a disaster.
“Somehow worse than the last film. Rebel Moon <...> is a waste of everyone's time, money, and subscription payments. Just think about all the projects Netflix has canceled… In favor of funding this. I have no idea how Zack Snyder's Justice League turned out to be good/watchable because these two films are career killers,” Reddit user ROBtimusPrime1995 wrote.
Online, the backlash against Rebel Moon 2 is huge; much worse than it was with the first movie. It seems like Netflix, once again, bet on the wrong franchise, and Zack Snyder’s very own Star Wars won’t make it. Which is a shame because it looked really promising… Until it premiered.
