Forgot Them? A Gentleman in Moscow’s Stars Already Shined Together in 93%-Rated Crime Drama
The duo became a true power couple before they got to be the real-life one.
Summary:
- A brand new Paramount+’ show A Gentleman in Moscow stars a real-life couple Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the leading roles
- But there is another famous show that has already captured them together on the screen.
- The show’s plot depicts the actors as a villainous duo that is set to get on the run after an unsuccessful robbery attempt.
Despite the evil characters’ selfish intentions, McGregor and Winstead’s powerful dramatical performances deliver the uncertain nature of their true feelings.
Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead may be stealing the show right now in Paramount+’ new series A Gentleman in Moscow, but the couple, who also gets to be one in real life, proved their well-working dynamic chemistry quite a long time ago.
Before being cast as flamboyant guests of a sumptuous hotel in the post-Revolutionary Russia, McGregor and Winstead starred together in the third season of the criminal drama series Fargo. Set in the 2010s, season 3 has little to do with the previous seasons, so the viewer won’t probably be very lost if they didn’t catch up with the show before.
The plot follows a couple of criminals Ray and Nikki, portrayed by McGregor and Winstead respectively, who make desperate attempts to get away from punishment after their failed robbery plan concerning Ray’s brother Emmit (also portrayed by McGregor). Their position aggravates as they are caught as suspects of a double murder.
Both Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead deliver powerful villain-coded performances in Fargo with McGregor being nothing like he has been before in any of his previous roles.
As the actor gets to play twin characters here, the physical difference between brothers is not as evident as their personalities’ striking apartness based on their social status and different approaches for life.
But the twins’ line couldn’t be that replete without Winstead’s masterful performance — as Ray tries to avenge his wealthy brother and commit a crime, he also realizes that isn’t that sophisticated in the criminal world to deal with everything impeccably on his own.
Here Winstead’s Nikki comes up on stage with her diverse experience, despite the fact that she’d rather start everything in her life from scratch.
As a result, both characters are driven by their self-centered desires, but eventually they become a true villainous duo that is suddenly caught by sincere romantic feelings for each other.
The first episode of A Gentleman in Moscow has already premiered on Paramount+, with the next one scheduled for release on April 5.
