Forget Silo, This Overlooked Sci-Fi Wonder with 95% on RT Is So Much Better
If you are a fan of the sci-fi genre, you have to give this one a try.
Silo is full of questions. So far, the show is reminiscent of Lost – like the cult series of the 2000s, Silo constantly builds up intrigue and throws up more and more strange circumstances.
Silo keeps you on the hook, not even due to outstanding drama, but because of the constant cliffhangers. Juliette once and once again learns something important about the bunker, but doesn’t get any closer to answering the main questions. For some viewers, that can be as enjoyable as it is excruciating.
The Expanse Is One of the Most Underrated Sci-Fi Series of Recent Years
If you are tired of endless mysteries, then you should pay attention to the best and at the same time most underrated sci-fi series of recent years. The Expanse is an adaptation of the book series of the same name, which resembles a mix of Firefly and Battlestar Galactica.
It is a spectacular space western about a group of smugglers who find themselves at the epicenter of a major political conspiracy.
What Is The Expanse About?
Earth, Mars and the asteroid belt are on the brink of war. The destruction of the Canterbury ship shatters the shaky peace. Five survivors of the Canterbury, led by former military man James, send a message about the disaster, blaming Mars for what happened.
Meanwhile, Detective Joe Miller is assigned to find and return to her parents Juliette Mao, the daughter of the head of a large corporation. Juliette has contacted the Outer Planets Alliance (OPA), an organization recognized as a terrorist on Earth.
The Expanse Has Been Praised by George R.R. Martin Himself
As in the case of Silo, the choice of the source material was a successful one: the book series is still popular, the first novel, Leviathan Wakes, was nominated for a Hugo Award in 2011.
George R.R. Martin supported his colleagues and wrote a flattering recommendation for the cover of the second novel. It was probably Martin who shared his experience of how to work with producers to make the TV adaptation a success.
The Expanse Storyline Is Full of Intrigue and Complex Relationships
The main characters are torn apart in this hostile system. Earthling James sympathizes with the Belters, and the daughter of an Earth billionaire, Juliette Mao, renounces her family and joins the ranks of the OPA.
At the same time, Belter Naomi, a ship mechanic, hates the OPA for their fanaticism and violence. And another Belter, Miller, works for the Earth police, wears a funny hat and, thanks to an operation on his spine, looks more like an Earthling.
And all of them are always on the verge of being killed by the empty, cold space from which a person is separated by a thin film of a spacesuit and the hull of the ship. There are also mad scientists, inhuman tycoons, and corrupt officials.
The Expanse is definitely worth watching: it's a new level of sci-fi on television and a show that has been undeservedly overlooked by many viewers, even sci-fi fans.
