Forget Seinfeld, This Sitcom Has The Worst Finale You Can Imagine
Ending up in prison seems okay now, right?
Summary:
- Seinfeld is a sitcom with a finale which is absolutely hated by fans.
- However, there are other series that can compete with the disappointing finale.
- Arrested Development ended up being the show with the most controversial finale ever, at least that’s what fans think.
We spend years and years following one particular sitcom and its characters that we become so attached to them and it really hurts to say goodbye to them when we have to. It’s only natural, as watching so closely someone’s life, even on screen, makes you feel like family.
Most of the showrunners choose different sorts of happy endings for their series in order to keep the fans satisfied till the end of it. But sometimes, the writers chose the direction that ends up being a total disappointment.
This is exactly what happened to one of the most iconic shows, Seinfeld. For nine seasons, viewers followed the show "about nothing" and all the ridiculous situations that the main characters ended up in.
The last episode of the show aired on May 14 in 1998, and as it often happens, it was a two part hour-long episode, at the end of which they are all shown in a prison. The fans hated it so much that it is already a common joke that there is no worse finale than this one.
However, it seems like the audience managed to find another show that is just as awful in saying goodbyes as this one. And we are talking about a series called Arrested Development.
The show aired first in 2003 and was centered on Michael Bluth, the most level-headed man you will ever meet. After his father’s imprisonment he became the one in charge, and that wasn’t easy at all.
Especially since he had to deal with his socially awkward younger half-brother Buster. Over the course of five seasons, we watched him make Michael's life miserable, and we thought that maybe he would become a decent person by the end.
But that wasn't the case. Instead, the writers turned him on his head and made fans hate the show in general.
“Turning Buster into a literal murderer. Buster killing Lucille changed his character completely, wasn’t funny, and completely changed the vibe of the entire series,” Redditor SummSpn said.
We really think that it’s almost impossible to use murders as a comedy tool and can only work in some way in a dark humor comedy.
But if you feel like giving the show another chance, try streaming it on Netflix.
