The hottest Dracula in the movies? It's this one, no doubt.

Dracula first appeared on screens in 1922 and audiences immediately fell in love with him. The resurrected Count, the creation of Bram Stoker, has become one of the most popular characters in the world of literature and cinema. Needless to say, many actors have played Dracula on the big screen, some better than others.

Wes Craven himself, the creator of such horror masterpieces as A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Hills Have Eyes, had a hand in one of the adaptations of the famous story.

He became the executive producer of perhaps the most famous modern interpretation of the vampire novel – Dracula 2000.

Dracula 2000 Has an Unusual Concept for Dracula’s Origin

Dracula 2000 can hardly be called a perfect movie – it has a small budget, a rather small scale and some inconsistencies in the plot. Does it all ruin the movie? Absolutely not.

It's difficult to make something new and original when it comes to the vampire Count, and the more valuable is the attempt of the creators of Dracula 2000. They have managed to give an interesting interpretation of the popular character and present a new vision of this story beloved by directors and viewers.

In the movie, the immortal vampire is not the cursed ruler of Wallachia, but Judas Iscariot, who has been roaming the world since the betrayal of Christ. And this is how the movie explains Dracula's fear of Christian symbols and silver.

It is also noteworthy that the movie is formally a sequel to Stoker's novel, and one of its characters is Van Helsing, who at the end of the 19th century failed to kill the Count.

It Is Gerard Butler’s Sexiest Role

Before joining the Spartan kings in 300 and The Phantom of the Opera adaptation, Gerard Butler portrayed the young and handsome Dracula in Wes Craven’s movie.

Butler was not yet a worldwide star and still had a long way to go in his career, but Dracula is still considered the sexiest role he ever played. He managed to recreate the image of a seductive but dangerous vampire with a terrible secret.

Dracula 2000 is available to watch on Max.
