The Big Bang Theory prequel has always been more about comedy and jokes than drama... but it looks like that's about to change.

As Young Sheldon nears the end of its sixth season, fans are worried that they may have to brace themselves for an emotional rollercoaster they knew was coming.

That's the thing about prequels: no matter how masterfully they handle their storylines, you know what's going to happen in the end.

That's exactly what's happening with Young Sheldon, as fans are already connecting the dots and thinking that The Big Bang Theory 's elephant in the room is about to be addressed in the prequel.

Yes, we all know one thing about Sheldon's father: he has to die, as per the canon. According to The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon's father died when Sheldon was 14, so it seems that time is up for Young Sheldon's George, no matter how much we don't want the prequel to turn into a drama.

According to fans, George's tragic but inevitable death will come either in the season 6 finale or next year. However, some people are already coming up with ways to avoid saying goodbye to their favorite character for good.

"I'm hoping George will continue to appear in YS after his death in Sheldon's dreams dressed in a Jedi robe like Arthur did in TBBT," Redditor mike-edwards-etc said.

Some people hope that Young Sheldon will resort to a metaphorical "he's dead to me" solution and not actually kill George. This might actually be possible, given that Young Sheldon has been pretty loose with the canon so far.

Others, however, feel that George's death is too big a milestone in Sheldon's life to be ignored by the prequel, though it is rarely overly canon-conscious.

With episode 13, titled A Frat Party, a Sleepover and the Mother of All Blisters, already out, fans will have to wait until March 2 for the next new episode.
