A love story that didn’t work out, but should have.

Lots of people believe that if there's no romantic storyline in a series then it’s a waste. Well, we are not sure about that, but still, a good old love drama makes the shoe so much more entertaining. And in this case, we can even say that the more the merrier works perfectly.

Love stories are part of the shows which are so far from being a romcom or don’t even have a romantic ground, but are, for example, hardcore crime or legal dramas. But just like in real life, you never know when the cupid finds you.

One of the most popular crime shows of our time, Criminal Minds, has many romantic storylines, but there's one that ended long ago that still keeps fans up at night.

Back in season 3 of the show, quirky computer geek Penelope Garcia, played brilliantly by Kirsten Vangsness, met fellow geek Kevin Lynch and they began a relationship after realizing there was tension between them with sparks flying.

Their relationship was built on mutual respect and the two shared many common interests, most of which were based on their professional skills and love of all things geeky. Sometimes though Kevin would be jealous of Garcia because she was in his opinion just too close to some of the BAU members, especially SSA Derek Morgan…

This was one of the reasons Penelope got frustrated with their relationship, but it was nothing close to what could have made them break up. Still, in a pivotal episode titled I Love You, Tommy Brown in season 7, Kevin proposed to her, only to have her say no.

Despite this awkward situation, they still seemed pretty happy together in season 8, and only a year later, viewers discovered that they were no longer together, and there was no explanation for what had happened. Fans agreed that Kevin deserved an on-screen closure because he was nothing but a perfect boyfriend.

“Anyone else wished they worked out? Penelope and Kevin seemed well suited to each other. Both intelligent nerds with all things digital. Attracted to each other. Care for one another. I just don’t get why they didn’t or couldn’t work things out,” Redditor Brown_Eyed_Girl167 said.

Still, in the entire show’s run, Kevin was Penelope’s longest relationship, and it’s great we at least have that to reminisce about.

Criminal Minds is available to stream on Hulu.
