Fans Say This Better Call Saul Character Was a Hidden Villain All Along
Hear us out.
The show explores the nature of good and evil through the clash of antagonists and protagonists. However, it is this ambivalent individual that fans remember as a positive character, even though her actions led to the death of an innocent man.
We're talking about Kim Wexler, who was portrayed throughout the series as a hardworking and ambitious lawyer with a deep connection to Jimmy.
She was seen as the moral compass in their relationship, often trying to keep him on the straight and narrow. However, as the show progressed, subtle hints were dropped to suggest that Kim had a darker side.
One of the first signs of Kim's hidden villainy was her willingness to bend the rules to achieve her goals. She would often manipulate situations to her advantage, leaving others in her wake. While this was initially seen as a necessary evil in the cutthroat world of law, it became clear that Mrs. Wexler was becoming increasingly comfortable with her deceitful actions.
Her occasional indulgence of Jimmy's various ideas also raises questions for many fans. While Saul is portrayed as a regular con man, Kim tries to do something about it. But in season 5, her relentless downward spiral begins.
While working on the Sandpiper Crossing case, the show's main couple wasn't afraid to use the most subtle methods to get financial compensation. Her bullying of Howard Hamlin was out of line.
Many will defend Kim by making excuses for being on her husband's side, but Jimmy was almost always a bad role model.
In fact, Redditor muffinpro52 points out that Mrs. Wexler's behavior caused the most sadness in the scenes where Kim and Saul openly framed Howard in front of his coworkers. The moment when the founder of Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill was drugged at the golf club is especially noteworthy.
And it all led to Howard's eventual death. It was this scene that disgusted fans the most. And while Jimmy could never live up to the expectations of those around him, Kim tried to get better, but unfortunately for many viewers, she never did.
