Moving far away from California after The Big Bang Theory was probably the best decision.

The Big Bang Theory was a blast when it hit the screens back in 2007, but its prequel definitely found a better approach for a wider audience.

Revolving around a group of friends working at CalTech in California, the original show was entertaining yet difficult enough to follow with all of its lead characters’ lengthy conversations about scientific theories that most viewers had no real clue about.

The franchise then moved on to a much cozier and more relatable atmosphere of Young Sheldon now inherited by the latter’s brand new spinoff which, despite being criticized for many things, still has this particular advantage to lead with.

Young Sheldon’s upcoming spinoff, titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, is still a few months away from arriving on CBS, yet the show was way quicker to get all the backlash possible.

Why Was Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Criticized?

Upon its announcement back in March, the series didn’t get as much of its potential viewers’ excitement as it was supposed to since many immediately crushed the future spinoff for the creators’ decision to go back to The Big Bang Theory’s roots with multi-camera format and live audience.

Additionally, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage plot line is still causing lots of speculations regarding the fact that Georgie and Mandy keep living in the latter’s family house when the show picks the story up, thus giving an incentive for side characters like Mandy’s parents to get bigger roles than they actually need.

Still, there’s no way for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage to turn into a total disaster at least because it will still follow Young Sheldon’s formula of success.

Since the future spinoff still focuses on the Coopers’ life in Texas, the whole small-town-family premise remains the core of the show, with no potential plot twists that will somehow lead its characters to much more complicated living conditions.

Apart from that, Georgie and Mandy’s marital problems are surely what most of its viewers will find more relatable compared to the issues that Sheldon had while striving for a Nobel Prize in The Big Bang Theory.

With the lack of all possible exaggerated storylines, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has quite low chances to face the same controversies that The Big Bang Theory had back then.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will premiere on October 17 on CBS.
