Fans Hope NCIS New Spinoff Won’t Go That Far (Literally)
Everyone’s favorite couple deserves some rest.
NCIS ’ upcoming new spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva has yet to arrive on the screens with its first season, but fans aren’t sure they want more of it.
That is, everything that happened and will happen to Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo’s Tony and Ziva is indeed a compelling material to dwell on, yet some are already pretty much convinced that the beloved couple had enough to be running across the whole Europe for more seasons to come.
However, others have a very different perspective and already came up with some ideas for the show’s future installments.
What Will NCIS: Tony & Ziva Be About?
Ever since NCIS: Tony & Ziva was announced several months ago, the franchise’s fans have been keeping busy developing theories about what is likely to swirl the characters this time. Putting its focus specifically on Tony and Ziva’s story, the upcoming show will follow them to Europe and see them reuniting after years spent apart.
Having left NCIS a while ago, the couple doesn’t seem to be ready yet for some kind of retirement and thus will go for European criminal corporations, though this time their job duties will get much more complicated, since both now have to take care of their daughter Tali.
Though many are pretty much excited about diving deeper into Tony and Ziva’s rocky, yet profound relationships, they still don’t want the spinoff to follow the original show’s suit with a myriad of seasons — in fact, fans don’t see it going further than just one season.
Here’s a Simple Way For NCIS: Tony & Ziva to Not Screw Up
Some Redditors suggested that the best way for NCIS: Tony & Ziva to have a successful run is to wrap it all up after the first installment or even make it a miniseries since “anything beyond that is a recipe of disaster”.
Others agreed, stating that the further season, should it indeed happen, must be perfectly written, otherwise even the show’s lead actors Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo may not take the risk of disappointing numerous fans.
However, there’s still a way for the show to go further in case it changes its strategy. According to another fan, NCIS: Tony & Ziva would have a bigger potential if it kicked the second season off with more crime-solving cases that wouldn’t jeopardize Tony and Ziva’s lives that much.
Additionally, the series also might stay away from the characters’ job twists and turns by shifting its focus to their family life as the Redditor admitted that “their chemistry is off the charts and I love their comedic conversations.”
NCIS: Tony & Ziva will be released on Paramount+ this fall.
