Fans' Alternate Alex Ending is Better Than Everything Grey's Writers Came Up With
People are still disappointed with the way Alex Karev was written off the show.
ABC's hit medical drama became an overnight sensation when it premiered in 2005, as fans couldn't get enough of this gripping series, which combined interesting medical weekly cases with excellent character development and rousing drama involving young doctors and their mentors.
As Grey's Anatomy is currently in its 19th season, many beloved characters have left the series over the past 18 years, and not all of them have left according to fans' wishes.
Pediatric surgeon Alex Karev has been one of the most popular characters on the series since the very first episode, when he was introduced to viewers as one of the interns, along with Meredith, Izzie and Cristina.
His relationship with Izzie proved to be one of the most exciting among other romantic couples, so the fact that Alex was left alone after Izzie left the hospital touched many to the core.
However, Alex managed to hold his own and even married Jo Wilson, becoming quite the happy husband. Unfortunately, the writers of the series decided to ruin his happiness in the most disgusting way possible.
Alex was written off from the series completely unexpectedly when it was revealed that Izzie had twins after her break-up with Alex and decided to keep it a secret from her ex-husband.
Upon learning of this, Alex left his wife and reconciled with Izzie, leaving his job. Fans were stunned by this development, calling it superficial and lazy on the part of the writers.
Having struggled to come to terms with such an ending for their favorite character, fans came up with an alternative ending for Alex Karev, and it is actually very good.
Fans suggested the idea that Alex should have left the US and gone to some remote part of the world to save children, fulfilling his long-held dream.
Alex had always been obsessed with helping children, which prompted him to become a children's surgeon, so such an ending for him would have been really fitting and worthy.
And he might even offer Jo to join him, but she would refuse, as she had already realized that she had fallen in love with Luna.
But unfortunately, nothing can be changed at this point.
