Fans Agree On The Worst Ted Lasso Storylines So Far
From lazy writing to some very wrong relationships: here are the worst things from the past 2 seasons of the show.
Ever since Ted Lasso premiered on Apple TV Plus in 2020, it has been called many wonderful things, such as "the most wholesome show ever" and "the pick-me-up show we all need".
Considering the hardships the world had to collectively face that year, Ted Lasso became a breath of fresh air and pure comedy for many viewers at home.
Even though it is clearly close to perfection in fans' eyes, there are still some plotlines writers could have handled better.
For example, not everyone found Sam's father a willing shill for doing the airline ad fitting in their relationship. Some even argue that this move was too harsh and too out of character, since Sam wasn't even aware of any issue before doing the ad.
It could've been a genuine mistake but also just a case of slightly lazy writing.
Many fans are not totally sold on Dr. Shannon's storyline as well.
Although her motives are pretty much explained in the episode where she admits to using her intelligence to deflect other people getting close to protect herself from being vulnerable, it does not make her more likable.
Not only does her own storyline not sit right with fans, but also every other storyline she's involved in becomes slightly worse.
"Ultimately Doc grew on me but the first few episodes with her are kind of cringey," Redditor CRIMExPNSHMNT said on that matter.
Finally, the most hated storyline among the Ted Lasso fans has to be Sam and Rebecca's relationship. Not only were they mentioned the most during the hot discussion, but for many different reasons as well.
The most one being the nature of such relations that can be very exploitative. Not only do the two characters have quite an age difference but also their positions are not exactly equal in terms of a workplace.
However, some fans find ways to stay positive about this dynamic as well, saying that this could be an opportunity for writers to show how people can still be friends after dating.
