Fallout fans chose the most expensive way to remind the Las Vegas inhabitants that in merely 257 years, the remains of their city will be ruled over by one Mr. House.

Summary:

  • Prime Video ’s Fallout TV show saw a resurgence of interest in the iconic franchise.
  • Recently, a Fallout fan launched a fundraiser to display Mr. House’s face on the Las Vegas Sphere for 24 hours.
  • So far, only $3,338 out of the required $487,710 has been collected, but fans don’t lose hope.

A large portion of the Fallout franchise’s appeal is its unique blend of serious topics, such as war, power, and responsibility, and utterly bizarre elements like Elvis Presley impersonators being a genuine faction and neo-cultists worshiping nuclear bombs. This inherent silliness in the otherwise utterly cursed world made Fallout into what it is today, and it’s infectious — as shown by fans’ most recent real-life shenanigans.

Fallout Fans Invest In the Goofiest Idea

Following the resurgence in Fallout’s popularity following the overwhelming success of Prime Video’s recent TV show, Fallout fans decided it was time to make a statement in the real world, too. The method they chose is ridiculous in every way: they decided to hijack the notorious Las Vegas Sphere to display an image.

One very specific image.

“Let’s get down to business. As the sole proprietor of the Las Vegas Strip, it’s only right that Mr. Robert House of RobCo Industries makes his presence known in the crown jewel of the Mojave,” one Evan Zarsaz wrote under the GoFundMe fundraiser he launched to collect the money for displaying Mr. House’s face on the Sphere.

Fallout x Sphere Collab Is Growing Closer

To achieve this ridiculous goal and display Mr. House’s face on the Las Vegas Sphere for one day, Zarsaz needs to collect $487,710. So far, it’s been going relatively well: thanks to the media publicity, the fundraiser has collected $3,338 in the past week, with almost 300 donations received ranging from $5 to $200.

There’s little hope that the overwhelmingly huge sum will be successfully collected in full, but it’s all about the journey, not the destination. If you’re a staunch Fallout fan like ourselves and have some (very) spare money, you could try and push this goal, too — fortunately, this fundraiser is donation-protected, meaning that if the target amount isn’t collected or something goes wrong, donators will get their money back.
