Fallout Showrunners Revealed Season 2 Focus: 'Essentially, Write the Future'
Season 2 will introduce both us and Lucy MacLean to the full spectrum of the Wasteland’s worst and cruelest. The Ghoul’s pals, no doubt.
Prime Video ’s Fallout came as a surprise for many, with new viewers not expecting this bizarre tale of violence to captivate them so much, and OG fans not even hoping for a truly faithful TV adaptation of their favorite game franchise. But Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet did it and passed all the tests with flying colors — and they don’t intend to stop now.
They have big plans for Season 2.
Fallout Season 2 to Introduce Numerous Factions
The Fallout universe is vast and impossible to cover in just one season, so while Prime Video’s TV did tackle quite a few important issues, they still have hundreds more to deal with. The Wasteland factions were one of the least elaborated aspects of Season 1, but the showrunners intend to fix this “oversight” in the next installment.
“In season 2, [we’ll explore] the factionalism and tribalism that a fractured America falls into. <...> In a world that is broken down and has no communication with each other, getting consensus is going to be a really tough thing. We are really going to expand on those divides a great deal in Season 2,” Wagner told Awards Daily.
In Fallout Season 1, we’ve only really seen the Brotherhood of Steel, Vault-Tec, and Moldaver’s Raiders; you can add in the NCR and the Fiends, which we only got a glimpse of. It seems like Season 2, we’ll face a lot more different factions. Exciting!
Each Fallout Faction Is Out to Control the World
New fans will share the unique, let’s put it that way, experience of meeting all those charming folks with Lucy MacLean. Just like our favorite Vaultie, they’ll come to a daunting realization that even after a full-blown apocalypse, war never changes.
“With Lucy as our POV character being new to the Wasteland, she has not experienced that many factions in the first season. But the unifying instinct of all factions, both in the real world and the world of Fallout, is that they want to bring the world under their own control. Essentially, write the future,” Robertson-Dworet added.
For the OG fans, however, this promise carries even bigger weight. By seeing which factions are still present in the Mojave Wasteland, we’ll be able to get closer to answering the biggest Season 1 question: what really happened 15 years ago?
