'Fallout' Series, Explained

Bethesda Studios is widely known for a huge number of thought-provoking and great-looking games, and the 'Fallout ' franchise is a crowning jewel of their work. The games are set decades after an atomic war that turned the U.S. into a toxic wasteland, and many characters are forced to survive in the face of radioactive emissions, raider attacks, and the threatening presence of mutants. With 7 games now released and tens of millions of copies sold, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood took notice of 'Fallout'.

It finally happened in the summer of 2020, when Amazon Prime announced its plans to bring the beloved post-apocalyptic world to home screens, with Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan producing the first season. Later, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner joined the project as showrunners, and with their work on the 2018's 'Tomb Raider', 'Captain Marvel' and 'Portlandia', the cinematic future of the video game is certainly in good hands.

The cast is no less stellar, with rising 'Yellowjackets ' star Ella Purnell playing the title role and veteran actors Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan playing supporting roles. Of course, more information about the cast will arrive closer to the series premiere, but even now 'Fallout' cast looks pretty impressive.

At the moment, details of the narrative have not been disclosed, but some rumors suggest that the main character of the story will be a ghoul, a zombie-like human figure who is unable to die and yet looks very gruesome. The writers have more than 20 years of stellar writing from some of the video game industry's brightest minds on which to base their upcoming series, so fans are confident that the final product will live up to the expectations placed on it.
