Fallout's Most Chilling Easter Egg Will Be the Worst 15 Seconds of Your Life
You had to be extra curious to get this one.
Prime Video 's Fallout arrived just on time to jump straight on the dystopia slash post-apocalypse hype train. With only 8 episodes, the show has masterfully turned an already beloved setting of Fallout into an actual story that doesn't butcher the original source.
Moreover, aside from the many post-nuclear war creepy shenanigans already present in the show, the most attentive viewers have spotted a very meta Easter egg that makes Fallout even more unsettling.
Remember that scene where Walton Goggins' Cooper Howard (before he turned into a radiation-ravaged ghoul) advertised Vault Tech's vaults and urged everyone who wanted their own ticket away from the nuclear war to call a number on their screens?
Well, Fallout viewers did exactly that. After all, it's an already known tool to play with your audience — Better Call Saul did the "call this number trick," and so did Marvel's She-Hulk. However, their little Easter eggs were nowhere near on the creepiness levels.
Fallout's Easter egg, as it turned out, is just 15 seconds of blood-chilling screams in your phone. You can see for yourself — or watch other people checking the phone number themselves.
It's almost like Vault Tech is actually a scary corporation making money off other people's suffering after all! Who could have thought? We're not going to spoil the entire creepy behind-the-scenes game of Vault Tech if you're yet to binge all eight episodes, but let's just say that the phone number Easter egg adds to the show's unsettling atmosphere in the most perfect way possible.
Can You Watch Fallout If You Never Played the Game?
Prime Video's most recent post-apocalyptic TV show is based on an iconic video game Fallout, but you don't need to be an avid gamer to know exactly what's happening.
However, if you are a fan of the game, your binge will be even more pleasing because the phone number Easter egg is definitely not the only little nod the show has up its sleeve.
So far, there's no official word on Fallout season 2, but executive producer Graham Wagner has already mentioned that the early work on the second chapter has been started. After all, the show did end on a cliffhanger, so a second season is only natural — and judging by the show's near-perfect 94% on Tomatometer and 88% from the viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, the renewal is only a matter of time.
All eight episodes of Fallout are already available on Prime Video.
