Treat this article as the definitive “Which Fallout character are you based on your playstyle and personality?” test. You won’t need any other after that.

Prime Video ’s Fallout features four main characters (yes, Norm is also a primary protagonist and we dare you to forget about him again), but apart from their distinct personalities, they represent something more. Each of them — Lucy, Cooper, Maximus, and Norman — corresponds to one of the most common playstyles.

Realistically, you can “find out which Fallout character you are” just by recalling how you play video games… Or, if you’re strictly a show fan, how you think you’d play.

Lucy MacLean: the Newbie

Lucy has a typical video game Fallout start in the show: she’s a Vault Dweller who has to venture into the scary Wasteland to find her family member. She’s effectively a new player and behaves appropriately — she doesn’t understand the rules of the brutal world outside, always picks “nice” dialogue options, and tries to do the morally correct thing… But we already see her get rougher as she gains experience.

Norman MacLean: the Lore Master

Norm is the ultimate “hack every terminal, read every entry, complete every side quest” player. He’s clearly in no rush to get into the Wasteland despite knowing that his father was kidnapped. Norman takes the time to carefully explore the Vaults and solve their mysteries; he’s an investigator, always digging for more lore and context. No wonder the man is still vibing in the starter location — there are still quests there.

Maximus: the Roleplayer

While he’s easy to be mistaken for a companion NPC, Maximus actually belongs to a rare breed of players: he’s a roleplayer. For this run, he decided to go with the Brotherhood of Steel through and through and based his build on Luck and Power Armor. The man won’t go anywhere without his shiny costume! When it comes to social interactions, this roleplayer clearly went with Idiot Savant and low Intelligence.

Cooper Howard: the Veteran

The Ghoul is one his 100th playthrough and is already maxed out — again. Cooper has seen it all, knows how non-playable characters behave, and doesn’t care for consequences. He’s a Lone Wanderer, only in it for caps and chaos. He takes what’s his and has fun toying with his prey, because at this point, no one is high-level enough to defeat him. Cooper might have been a Lucy once, but not anymore.
