The Witcher has been the subject of a lot of controversy lately, so... allow us to add fuel to the fire, huh?

With The Witcher switching from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, fans can't help but mourn all the missed opportunities Netflix could have utilized.

Hemsworth was confirmed as Netflix's new choice for Geralt shortly after Cavill announced in October that he would no longer be wielding the Witcher's sword. Not everyone took the news well, which is why a new wave of fancasting hit the fandom in the wake of the third season's summer premiere.

It seems that fancasting iconic Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen as Geralt will never get old; many people believe that he would be an even better choice for the Witcher than Cavill. With Netflix's portrayal of Geralt as huge and muscular, fans of the games and books argue that the show needed to go with someone less bulky for the role.

Besides, Mikkelsen fits the role physically, not to mention his great acting skills. But that's where the fans are divided. With many people frustrated with Netflix's creative direction for The Witcher, fans argue that casting Mikkelsen as Geralt would be nothing but a waste of a great actor at this point.

"I don't doubt his acting. My biggest worry is the writers not staying close to the source material and adding flare just to make the show have more action," Redditor scwarlock noted.

Even though casting Mikkelsen could have been a waste of an actor, many Witcher fans are still not okay with Netflix choosing Liam Hemsworth as their Geralt. According to fans, the casting of Hemsworth will turn the series into a "parody of itself," and many people have already vowed to boycott Season 3 before it even premieres.

The controversial third chapter of The Witcher is set to hit Netflix this summer, with an exact premiere date yet to be determined.
