The long-awaited answer only made the fans praise the creators even more.

Ever since Everything Everywhere All at Once, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert's 2022 sci-fi action-comedy-drama, dominated the 95th Academy Awards, winning in 7 categories, fans have been wondering if they'll ever see a sequel.

Apart from receiving high praise from critics, the movie also became a smash hit among the average moviegoers and was a box office success, so given the current state of the movie industry, the sequel seems inevitable, right?

The answer is "wrong", apparently, as Michelle Yeoh, who played the lead role of Evelyn Quan Wang, recently set the record straight regarding the possible sequel.

During her appearance at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, the actress gave an interview in which she explicitly stated that Everything Everywhere was a one-time spectacle for a simple reason: if the sequel took place, they would "just be doing the same thing."

Among other things, Yeoh also admitted how much the film has influenced her entire career, because after all these years (Michelle is now 60 years old and her career began way back in the 1980s), she is finally getting a script that doesn't describe her character as "a Chinese or Asian-looking person."

Fans agree that not every successful movie needs a sequel, which has become quite evident nowadays with countless franchises popping up here and there.

Everything Everywhere All at Once was a breath of fresh air among those movies, and it is better to stay that way.

Besides, as the actress said, the movie has already explored almost every plot possibility, with countless alternate universes, so fans are glad that at least this great movie won't follow the trend of completely unnecessary sequels (like the upcoming Gladiator 2, for example).

They also joke that if you pay attention, the movie already contains a sequel at about the 45-minute mark, when the "Fin" caption appears on the screen, confusing some viewers.

Michelle Yeoh's next big screen appearance comes with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, where she voices Airazor.

The film will have its world premiere at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on May 27, 2023, and will be released in U.S. theaters on June 9, 2023.
