It has been a year since the Slap incident, and many are ready to move on. Apparently, not Tom Cruise!

The Academy may have allowed Will Smith to get his name engraved on his Oscar, but that does not mean that the rest of the world has forgiven him yet.

His former bestie Tom Cruise, for instance, is reportedly not even returning Smith's phone calls.

Some sources close to the actors say that Will has been desperately trying to reach the Mission: Impossible star to collaborate on a project that would help resuscitate his flagging career post-slap.

Why is Cruise not rushing to help out his buddy? It might be because he does not want to be associated with the actor – the drama and all that could potentially ruin Cruise's reputation as well (not that it is so picture-perfect as is though).

Another reason for him ghosting Will could be that he just wants to keep his Hollywood interactions to a minimum. After all, Cruise has been trying to live a quiet life in the UK, away from all the big industry buzz.

Fans are quick to jump to the conclusions, and they are not at all surprised by Cruise's reaction. With the actor distancing himself from his own daughter, many "doubt he's giving Will Smith a call."

If you are confused, that is in reference to a recent update from the actor's ex-wife Katie Holmes that Cruise "has no part" in his daughter Suri's life. Will, if we were you, we wouldn't wait up for Tom to pick up the phone anytime soon…

Other fans are poking fun at an old rumor that Will Smith was church buddies with Tom Cruise but later left Scientology, so "Tom literally isn't allowed to speak to him."

Smith and his wife Jada have repeatedly denied the claims, but fans are not ready to let go just yet.

It remains unclear whether Cruise and Smith will be on speaking terms or working together again soon, but one can only hope. Let's just wish Will the best of luck in making his career slap again – in a good way this time.
